The Bog
By Caitriona Crosse
On the 29th of September all the 5th classes in St Helen's were invited to go to the bog in County Kildare . We had to bring wellies and a rain jacket and a change of clothes . That night I got all my clothes ready. The next day at school we did a few maths before our bus came . After a while the coach came and then our mini bus arrived . We all got on in two's ,my best friend Laura Twomey and I went together . When we were all on the bus the bus went . Laura and I were very exited and we wanted to put on our wellies . At last we arrived my friends and I got out and we saw geese and we chased them all over the place . Finally Cecil Potterton came out . ''HELLO'' !! I will be bringing all you kids around Ardkill bog . So then we left the farm yard and went on our way to the bog .There were sheep and cows all round us Cecil brought his dog Tibor , everyone loved her . And here's when it got messy .The bog was like a huge jelly . Cecil said to jump . It was so much fun . Then he told us about all the different insects and plants . He told us about Old man's beard which is a plant and we learned about sundew . Lots of the people fell. Laura fell in .It was kind of funny but scary .It was really good at the bog and I would like to come back .
