| John Harvey Kellogg, the inventor of Kellogg's cereals was born on the 26th of February 1852 in Tyrone Township, Michigan. At the age of four he and his family moved to the village of Battle Creek. Later on in his life he studied medicine at Belleve Hospital College. Near his graduation in eighteen seventy five he returned to Battle Creek and became superintendent of the institute. Soon he became a very successful surgeon. He continued his life improving his surgical skills and inventing a health food for his patients: Kellogg's corn flakes. With Kellogg's corn flakes making a big success he invented many more of these health foods. In 1906 his brother William Keith Kellogg founded the Kellogg's company and started to sell Kellogg's cereals. While the company was still running and making great success Kellogg invented a magazine called "Good Health Magazine" But not only was he a popular surgeon and a great inventor he also wrote over fifty books about Kellogg's cereals, Healthy living, Right dieting, The Mystery of Life and many more, which he did not take much credit for. He preferred to keep helping his patients than to have fame for his books and cereals. John Harvey Kellogg stayed an inventor until he died at the old age of ninety one on the 14th of December 1943. His brother William Keith Kellogg died eight years later also at the age of ninety one on the 7th of October 1951, but still Kelloggs is one of the most successful companies in the world today. |
