Active School - March and April

12th Apr 2019

Both March and April have been busy months again as we progress through the ASF process.

This month all classes engaged in the Tour of EUROPE challenge where we ran the equivalent distance to many famous sights in Europe, scaled down to a certain number of laps of our yard. Both the children and teachers enjoyed this challenge and we have all improved our stamina greatly.

The Active Schools Committee have worked with the Green Schools Committee members this month with their promotion of their 'Walk on Wednesdays' initiative. Some classes received walking passports where they counted their steps to school, with the aim to increase this number if possible. This has been a great partnership, promoting activity before and after school.

The Active Schools Committee have also been busy this month as they deliver the final Food Dudes deliveries to all classes. The Food Dudes programme as worked very well alongside our ASF initiatives as we promote a healthy lifestyle through activity and diet.

Finally, Ms. Furlong has started the prep for Santry in June already with many groups taking part in running practice for fun this month.

We would like to congratulate both our Junior Boys hurling team as they won their league final!

We wish our Senior Boys hurlers the best of luck as they are into the league final and the same to our Girls Camogie team in the shield final. Both these finals will take place in May.
