Green Schools Climate Action Day

3rd Oct 2019

St. Helen's Climate Action Day takes place on Friday 18th October. Green School Committee members met in Room 15 yesterday to discuss ideas that could be done on the day.

Pupils suggested an Art Competition entitled "Climate Action". Prizes will be given for the best drawings. Prizes will have a recyclable theme. Pupils also suggested doing a litter pick up on the day around the school. The green schools team will speak to all classes on the day highlighting the need to make little changes in our lives that will help reduce harmful effects on the environment. The committee have been in contact with the National Tree Council in the hope of receiving a tree that can be planted in our school on Friday 18th October. One new tree could possibly be planted yearly. Meanwhile the Green Schools Committee are busy designing awareness posters for the day. Our new Green Schools Committee for the  school year 2019/2020 was announced at assembly in the hall last Friday 30th October. We are encouraging pupils to continue W.O.W (Walk on Wednesday). Ms. Tuite's, Mr. O' Boyles and Ms. Kavanaghs class have been doing lots of walking to school. Well done.
