Science Week at St. Helens 2021

11th Jan 2022

Pupils at St. Helen's participated in Science week 7th-14th November. Pupils across all classes engaged in science investigations under the curricular strands of Living Things, Energy and Forces, Materials and Environmental Awareness and Care. Guest speakers were invited in to speak to the pupils about all things Science. Dr. Madden, a parent and local G.P. spoke to the pupils about his job in the community. The pupils asked him some really interesting questions about his training, his job, common illnesses. The pupils really loved it when he showed them the contents of his G.P. Medical Bag and what he would carry with him to a medical emergency.

We also had Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick from Met Eireann speak to the pupils about weather and climate change. He discussed the instruments he used when he travelled to some of the world's biggest glaciers to collect data on climate change.

Everyday during the week pupils shared what they learned with other classes over the school intercom. It was a really fun week and pupils did so many experiments and investigations. Well done to all the pupils and the teachers on their hard work .
